The Geography Department, in collaboration with Malta Map Society and Heritage Malta, organised a map viewing session for Dr Alexander Kent, to showcase highlights of the Albert Ganado Malta Map Collection at the National Museum of Fine Arts, Valletta. The map viewing session offered interesting opportunities of discussion and exchanges on some of the finest examples of local cartographic heritage, such as from the maps of Ittar, De Palmeus, Aloisio Gili, Antonio Borg, and Spratt. The session was co-ordinated by Mr Joseph Schirò from the Malta Map Society, Ms Bernadine Scicluna and Ms Katya Micallef from Heritage Malta and Ms Ritienne Gauci and Professor John Schembri from the Geography Department of the University of Malta. He later delivered a lecture at the Phoenicia Hotel titled National styles in topographic mapping: a good view of Europe?
