On 11 December, Dr Daniel Gullo the Director of the Malta Study Center of the Monastic Hill Library in Minnesota and the archivist, Dr Valeria Vanesio, paid a courtesy visit to Dr Albert Ganado at his residence in Valletta. During the meeting Dr Gullo mentioned four manuscript portolan maps of Malta which are held at the Minneapolis Central Library which are unknown to scholars. It was suggested that the maps would be studied and published in a separate monograph by the Malta Map Society and perhaps sponsored by a local foundation or firm. The Malta Study Center intends to join the Malta Map Society as from next year.
